Homeboy Sandman & Jack Splash Drop Resonance Frequency

Homeboy Sandman Jack Splash

Homeboy Sandman has never sounded quite like this before. The acclaimed underground rap luminary — celebrated for his dense, poetic lyricism and his work alongside Aesop Rock as the duo Lice — has just released Resonance Frequency, a full-length collaborative album with multi-Grammy Award-winning producer Jack Splash. The result is something genuinely unexpected: avant-garde, richly layered, and alive in a way that signals a clear new chapter for both artists.

Two Artists, One Pivotal Moment

What makes Resonance Frequency worth paying attention to isn’t just the pedigree behind it — it’s the timing. Both Homeboy Sandman and Jack Splash arrived at this project from places of personal reckoning, and that tension runs through every track.

Sandman has been candid about what the album represents for him. “I gave up on this place for a long time and I know people could hear it,” he says. “Now I believe in everybody again; and it’s given me a major boost. So it’s a lot less like lashing out, and a lot more like reaching out. That’s the frequency I’m on. God brought Jack into my life at the perfect time. Rebirth calls for new sonics; special frequencies to resonate.”

Jack Splash echoes that sense of renewal. A producer with eleven Grammy nominations — including three for his work on Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city — Splash describes the project as a turning point. “Making Resonance Frequency with Sandman gave me the strength to tune back into my TRUE purpose as an artist and operate at my highest vibrational level,” he says. Beyond Lamar, Splash’s production credits span Alicia Keys, Solange Knowles, John Legend, Christina Aguilera, Lupe Fiasco, and many others — and yet this album feels like some of his most personal work.

What You’ll Hear

Produced entirely by Jack Splash, Resonance Frequency spans 13 tracks and features guest appearances from Masta Ace on “Signal” and CeeLo Green on “World On Fire.” The tracklist reads:

  1. Twentyfourseven
  2. Arrow
  3. Weed Stores Everywhere
  4. Signal (feat. Masta Ace)
  5. Uh Uh

The first visual from the album, “Weed Stores Everywhere,” is out now. Directed by Art Morera, the video is deadpan, absurdist, and oddly charming — very much in keeping with Sandman’s sensibility. Watch it here:

A New Chapter Worth Hearing

Resonance Frequency doesn’t feel like a side project or a detour. It feels deliberate — two artists who found each other at exactly the right moment, making exactly the record they needed to make. For longtime Homeboy Sandman fans, it’s a revelation. For anyone new to his work, it’s as good a place as any to start.
