Day 1 of the Roots Picnic delivered exactly what we hoped for—and then some. Philadelphia showed up, the artists brought their A-game, and all three stages stayed packed with energy from open to close.
If you missed the action, don’t worry. We’ve got the full rundown of everything that went down across the AT&T Stage, Plateau Stage, and the Toyota Music Den. Let’s get into it.
All Three Stages Came Alive
The Roots Picnic kicked off all three stages—the AT&T Stage, Plateau Stage, and the Toyota Music Den—with some incredible sets right out the gate.

Philly’s own DJ Diamond Kuts opened the AT&T Stage, setting the tone for a day full of bangers. Over on the Plateau Stage, DJ Aktive got things moving. And the Toyota Music Den opened with the Fan Karaoke Experience, giving the crowd a chance to grab the mic themselves.
The Toyota Fan Karaoke Experience
The Toyota Music Den became a fan favorite fast. The Fan Karaoke Experience ran throughout the day, featuring standout moments from Ambre, 2BYG, and Jaydon. It was the perfect spot for fans who wanted to do more than just watch—they got to be part of the show.
Plateau Stage: A Celebration of Legacy
The Plateau Stage was stacked from start to finish. The lineup featured Infinite Coles, DJ Kid Roc, Jay Oladokun, Bilal, and a special 50 Years of Go-Go tribute hosted by Kenny B and Noochie.

Then things hit another level. The legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff took the stage with all of his friends, turning the set into a full-blown party. Closing out the Plateau Stage, Jermaine Dupri brought out Bow Wow and many more from his So So Def legacy. The crowd went all the way up.

AT&T Main Stage: Pure Fire
The Main Stage was nothing but heat. Genesis Melgar, Beano French, Saba Keable, and Destin Conrad warmed things up and got the crowd ready for the heavy hitters.

Then came the legends. De La Soul brought the classics. Brandy reminded everyone why she’s a vocal icon. And to close it all out, Jay-Z linked up with The Roots for a set that had all of Philadelphia on its feet.
What Day 1 Told Us
Day 1 of the Roots Picnic was a reminder of why this festival matters. It celebrates hip-hop history, lifts up local talent, and brings the community together in a way few events can. From DJ Diamond Kuts to Jay-Z, every artist added something special to the day.
