The 90’s was the dawn of a new era in music. Hip-hop brought forth a host of artists with varying opinions to push communities forward. And at the forefront of that lobbying for women’s empowerment in a male-dominated industry, Yo-Yo was a major voice backed by her crew, the Intelligent Black Woman’s Coalition or better known as IBWC.
The legend stopped by Sway In The Morning to talk about her new music, along with some of the work she did and is still doing for women’s empowerment. The conversation revisited her time dating Tupac, currently working to change LA with Ice Cube and why she chose to do Love & Hip-Hop.
