The NBA season is around the corner and one sure way all fans know is the official Media Day. Everyone starts the season full of hope, 0-0 records and feeling like “this will be our year” while some teams reveal new looks or improved additions to their rosters.
John Wall however is making the news today not because of the excitement of NBA Media Day or a brand new signature shoe being released with Adidas. The All-Star point guard is giving back to his DC community by donating $400,000 to help a local program (Bright Beginnings) continue their work in assisting homeless children. The program focuses on providing children without a stable home a stable environment to learn during the day. So, while their living situation may be outside of their control at least they are still being provided a solid foundation when it comes to the basics of education.
The donation from Wall will help allow the group to add an additional center and increase the number (currently around 162 per day) of children they are able to help grow and teach. While it is not set to open until 2017, at least they are laying ground to something everyone deserves…..a bright future.
