West Side High School Principal Akbar Cook is going above and beyond to make sure his students don’t skip school out of fear of being bullied. Cook said students were being bullied because of their dirty clothes — which resulted in chronic absenteeism where they would miss three to five days a month. Cook took action by clearing space in the school and installing a washer and dryer to give the kids an opportunity to wash their clothes. But Cook is about much more than just that, he is on a path to give all of his kids an opportunity to be prepared for success. And he stopped by Sway In The Morning to talk about it.
