Within the last 24 hours the tides have been changing! Jay-Z launched his new music streaming service “Tidal.” Tidal is a superior sound quality system that will feature music from artists like Beyonce, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Madonna, Usher, Rihanna, Drake, Nicki Minaj, J.Cole, Daft Punk, and Calvin Harris. Most of these artists that were named showed their support of the new app by changing their profile picture on their social networks to blue and created the hashtag #TidalforAll.
Consumers will get a free 7 day trial, but to continue the service there is a 9.99 monthly fee for standard definition tier and a 19.99 premium fee for high audio. According to Billboard.com, Jay-Z told them:
“People are not respecting the music, and devaluing what it really means. People really feel like music is free, but will pay $6 for water. You can drink water free out of the tap and it’s good water. But they’re okay paying for it. It’s just the mindset right now.”
Even though Tidal may seem like the underdog, they will soon become the company where you may hear exclusive Rihanna tracks, Beyonce videos, or a new Calvin Harris mix. Sprint is actually the first mobile carrier that will have the app available to download.
Today, the 16 main artists who are on board with this project had a live press conference and signed an official contract for millions to see. They all will be getting 3 percent of the company in order to guarantee the exclusives. Check out the video and pics below and see if you want to join the wave!
