W. Kamau Bell on Meeting with KKK Members and the Meaning Behind His Show ‘United Shades of America’

W. Kamau Bell stopped by Sway in the Morning to talk the purpose of his show, ‘United Shades of America’, in order to raise awareness about racism in America.

Bell took a bold step and met with KKK Members in Kentucky and Arkansas to have discussion with them about their beliefs. Amongst his discussion with the members, W. Kamau Bell explained that many members blamed former President Obama for the issues in America. When asked if a member could unlearn these racist ideologies, Bell explained that racism is a generational issue in which families are teaching their children these beliefs.

W. Kamau Bell discusses the purpose of his show, which should show the world that racism is still an ongoing issue in the nation. With some citizens believing that the nation is a post-racial society, Bell’s work is dedicated to exposing the horrific truth and historical legacy of racism.
