The story revolves around FBI Agent Janet Maclin, who, after being diagnosed with terminal cancer, teams up with NYPD detectives Quincy Cavanaugh and Phee Freeman to investigate a series of gruesome hate crimes. The city is on the brink of a race war, and as the body count mounts, the trio races against time to nab the perpetrator and stop the city from plunging into chaos.
In the interview, LaSalle talked about how he began his writing career at the age of 50, after he realized that he had a passion for storytelling that he wanted to explore. He also mentioned how his experience as an actor and director helped him visualize scenes and dialogue in his head as he wrote. This unique approach has helped him create intense action sequences in his novels that read like a movie screenplay.
Apart from writing, LaSalle is deeply committed to mentoring and uplifting the next generation of Black directors and producers.
