Trick Trick Opens Up Like Never Before: His City of Detroit + Collaborating with Treach of Naughty By Nature and Bumpy Knuckles

Sway and the crew took Sway in the Morning on the road last week making a stop in Detroit. Putting a call into an OG, Trick Trick delivered and sat down for an in depth interview about his moves in the city and finding his calling to be a positive light.

Giving Trick Trick a hard time off the bat for taking him down in a celebrity basketball game in Flint not too long ago Sway asks Trick Trick about growing up in the D. Opening up he says he didn’t really know he was poor because everyone around him was in the same situation. Learning how to survive at an early age he says now he never feels like he’s alone in his city.

Speaking on the ‘neighborhood stars’ that kids look up to, Trick Trick talks about negative spirits that often times get passed down to younger kids who just want to shine. After having a talk with a good friend a few years ago Trick Trick says his mindset changed as he stopped trying to be understood and rather sat back to understand. Saying we have two of everything, eyes, ears, feet, ect… but only on mouth he opens up about only building others up.

Getting into new music Trick Trick lights up when he mentions his new project “Outlaw.” Taking his time and doing what he wanted he says the project is full of live instrumentation and funk. Along with his solo project he has also teamed up with Bumpy Knuckles and Treach from Naughty By Nature for a collaboration they’re calling “O.G.ology.” Taking a call from Bumpy Knuckles live on air they speak about how the trio first came together and their recent work with Raekwon. Check out the full interview above and stay tuned to for new music from Trick Trick very soon.
