In The U.S. roughly 610,000 people die of heart disease in the United States every year. Which is about 1 in every 4 deaths. Nurse Noel stopped by our First Aid with Kelly Kinkaid segment to give us the best ways to maintain a healthy heart.
The biggest contributors to heart disease are high blood pressure are high cholesterol, and smoking. The CDC says, half of Americans (47%) have at least one of these three risk factors. Several other medical conditions and lifestyle choices can also put people at a higher risk for heart disease, including:
- Diabetes
- Overweight and obesity
- Poor diet
- Physical inactivity
- Excessive alcohol use
