This 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing Is Iconic Speed

Speed comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes, but original legends are getting harder and harder to find. Today we get a look at something quite iconic and quite eye-catching, a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing. This stunning ride has had only one owner and has been in dry storage since 1976. The car was owned by pilot and US Merchant Marine Sig Nygren who installed several details.

This includes a chronometer, altimeter, and thermometer, as well as fog lights, an eight-track player, and a defroster fan. Other than that the ride is completely original with its same Fire Engine Red paint and Red Plaid fabric upholstery. The clean ride comes with factory inspection tags still visible on the oil and fuel tanks, as well as only 31,239 miles on the odometer. Check out this clean machine in the images below and speak your mind on it after the jump. Head over to Gooding & Company to learn more about making this legend yours.
