Our world is filled with all sorts of unjust and corrupt policies. Many people across the world are forced to live in conditions where police officers abuse their power by extorting and using violence against their own people.
Most recently, our Nigerian Brothers and Sisters have been fighting a strong battle against injustice as The notorious Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) had been known for killing, torture, framing, and blackmail thus leading to protest. The widespread protests over Nigeria’s hated SARS unit stood as a clear cut sign that the country’s young population has found its voice, and more importantly, knew how to use it. Using leveraging complete solidarity, the violent task force was disbanded on Sunday, October 11, 2020.
Despite forcing the president to shut down the unit, many of Nigeria’s young population are still deeply dissatisfied. Their aim is to continue their fight for total police reform, and for the officers in the rogue SARS department to face justice.
As we continue our fight for justice here in America, let’s remember that injustice is all over the world. Let’s lift up our Nigerian Brothers and Sisters in their battle for liberation which has been characterized by poor governance since Nigeria’s independence 60 years ago.
