The Rob Report: Rob Markman Rates The Lox's "The Trinity 3rd Sermon" a 7 out of 10

It’s about that time for Rob Markman’s The Rob Report, where we break down music for the game’s hottest artists. Last week we checked out Big KRIT‘s Cadillactica and today we’re gonna go to Yonkers to catch up with the Lox on The Trinity 3rd Sermon.

You already know the rhymes are not a problem, but the beats on Trinity 3 don’t always hold up. New producer Virus struggles to find their way on “Real is Real” and the Shroom-produced “Ignorant” doesn’t inspire much more than an obligatory head nod.

This free project will set up The LOX’s big comeback album in 2015 or so we hope. Still, if we judge this tape on it’s on merits, it’s pretty damn good. That’s why I had to give it a 7 out of 10. There are a few missteps, but some real vintage LOX moments throughout. the slow-rolling “Thank You” is a real gem and The Lox’s remix to Dej Loaf’s “Try Me” prove that rap veterans could still hang with the youngins.

There it is Trinity 3rd Sermon But what do you think? Hit me on Twitter @Robmarkman I talk back.
