The Rob Report: Rob Markman Rates Kendrick Lamar's "The Blacker the Berry" an 8.5 out of 10

What’s up citizens this ya guy Rob Markman with The Rob Report, where we break down music for the game’s hottest artists. Last time we decoded Lupe Fiasco’s Tetsuo & youth, this time we’re going to take a listen to Kendrick Lamar’s new single “the Blacker the berry”

Fresh of his Grammy win — and boycott — Kendrick Lamar is back and he has something to say, but what else is new. “The Blacker the Berry,” picks up right where “i” leaves off aiming to dissect complex feelings around self-love, self-hate and race.

But this is not “i” … “The Blacker the Berry” is aggressive and angry will make take the listener through some complex emotions. Kendrick sets it off tell us that he’s the biggest hypocrite of 2015 and then proceeds to direct his angst at the racism that exists within white america before setting his sights on the black on black violence.

Lyrically and musically “The Blacker the Berry” is tight. Its not a question, the song’s ultimate impact remains to be seen. I’m going to give this song a 8.5 out of 10. I think this is only a taste of what kendrick has in store of his next album, but that’s just my thoughts what do you think? Hit me on twitter @robmarkman, I talk back.
