Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter Twilite Tone, Pos from the hip-hop trio De La Soul, and Damon Albarn from the virtual band Gorillaz joined us for the first time on Sway in the Morning. We talked to them about what it was like to work on the Gorillaz’s long awaited fifth studio album, Humanz.
Humanz features a plethora of big names. In addition to Pos’ “Momentz,” the album guest spots Danny Brown, Vince Staples, D.R.A.M., Pusha T and more. The album, which is an emotional response to Donald Trump’s presidency, was produced by Twilite Tone and Remi Kabaka. Tone reveals his inspiration for making the project. “I wanted to hear a Brit over Black music with Black people singing behind him because I feel like the time and place politically and socially called for that.”
The guys speak on the current state of music, auto-tune, and distinguishing yourself as an artist. Watch them freestyle below.
