Taraji P. Henson Sends Son To HBCU Following Allegations Of Racial Profiling

It seems that even celebrity children aren’t immune to the struggles of everyday Americans.

In the latest issue of Uptown magazine, actress Taraji P. Henson revealed her motive behind pulling her son out of the University of Southern California in favor of her alma mater Howard University. According to Henson, her 20-year-old son Marcel had fallen victim to racial profiling at the hands of campus officers for “having his hands in his pockets,” an incident that apparently has happened on more than one occasion.

USC’s Department of Public Safety released a statement indicating that any allegation of unfair treatment automatically results in an investigation, however Henson has already made up her mind, explaining that if she has to worry about the safety of her child she will instead send him to a Historically Black University.

“I’m not paying $50k so I can’t sleep at night wondering is this the night my son is getting racially profiled on campus,” said the Empire star, who is also featured on the cover.
