#FBF : Talib Kweli talks Prisoner of Conscious and Twitter at Sway’s SXSW Takeover 2013

Author of “The Beautiful Struggle,” Talib Kweli has spent over a decade proving hip hop to be much more than just music. Prior to the release of his first solo album “Quality” in 2002, Kweli was well known for his lyrics in the underground realm and collaborations with artists like Mos Def with whom he formed the group Blackstar; as well as Common and Kanye West to name a few.

Kweli gave a voice to the voiceless on hit songs like “Just to get by,” “I Try” and “Black Girl Pain.” He continued to uplift the socially oppressed with the release of his 2013 album “Prisoner of Conscious,” and gave us exclusive insight on his inspiration for the project as well as his opinion on Twitter during our Sway SXSW Takeover in 2013.
