SXSW Festival Is Canceled Due To Concerns Over The Coronavirus

SXSW has been a staple in music culture for years. But on Friday that streak of providing a quality music experience and info in the tech space has come to an end halt as the Mayor of Austin, Texas declared a state of emergency and cancelled the festival.

Thousands of artists, visitors  and fans flock to the city for several days of conferences and music events.

“It’s a really important event to our city in a lot of ways, tied to who we are in this city……I look forward to the next iteration of SXSW when it comes back for us.”

Mayor Steve Adler

The SXSW site quotes “ We are devastated to share this news with you. “The show must go on” is in our DNA, and this is the first time in 34 years that the March event will not take place. We are now working through the ramifications of this unprecedented situation.”

Other major events, like Miami’s Ultra Music Festival have been canceled nationwide.
