Sway TBT Interview: Wale Reveals Rihanna Collaboration on the "Bad" Remix & Discusses Creating "The Gifted" in 2013

With the No. 1 album in the country right now, it’s safe to say that Wale is one of the hottest emcee’s in the game.  With features from J. Cole, SZA, Usher and Jeremih, “The Album About Nothing” has been considered Wale’s most personal project to date.  So with his current success we thought it was only appropriate to spotlight his 2013 interview with Sway about his album that preceded TAAN.

The summer of 2013 was extra hot for the DMV native which made for a very interesting conversation with Sway and the rest of the Sway In The Morning Crew.  From speaking about the production of “The Gifted,” looking to evolve and explaining his DMV crew which works closely with him throughout each project, Wale had a definite buzz sounding him just a few weeks before the release of his album.

Dropping gems about his release date of June 24, Wale explains why he didn’t release his album on the same week as Kanye and J. Cole as he was paying homage to Jay Z’s “Reasonable Doubt.”  He also explains the importance of crafting a tracklist that makes sense and the type of women he looks for.

One of the most memorable moments from the interview though is the announcement of his “Bad” remix as he played it for the first time on Sway In The Morning exclusively off his iPhone revealing that Rihanna was the guest feature.

Check out the 2013 interview below and make sure to support the big homie Wale by heading to iTunes for “The Album About Nothing.”
