Sway SXSW Takeover 2016: Wyclef Jean Drops Industry Gems and Freestyles in Spanish, French, German and Japanese

You know that feeling when you hear something that’s so next level it makes the hair on your neck stand up straight? Think about a few times that’s happened to you and then watch this video of Wyclef Jean from our SXSW takeover. A true music pioneer from Brooklyn by way of Haiti, Wyclef and The Fugees broke down barriers and built a foundation for so many artists that came after them.

Taking the stage guitar in hand, Wyclef goes off the top of the head as he looks around for a mic stand. After playing his guitar and taking the listeners through some serious history  for a few minutes he has DJ Wonder throw on a beat and the rest is history. Freestyling of “Coco” and “Shabba,” Wyclef touches on subjects from Bruce Lee to Chief Keef to the Apache Indians. Things get really crazy when Wyclef decides to go not bilingual not trilingual but quadrilingual, that’s right four different languages and that’s not including english. From Spanish to French to German to Japanese it doesn’t matter if you cant understand what he’s rapping, the pure skill and confidence takes the cake.
