Streaming Is Now The Most Popular Method of Music Consumption

The world is changing, and changing along with it is the way we connect and do everything else. Technology has changed everything about our lives, and today some interesting news comes down. Today the word on the e-streets is that streaming is now the most popular method of music consumption. The news comes from a new report by Nielsen Music which revealed that on-demand streaming took up 38 percent of total music consumption in the U.S. last year. The report also noted that are shifting away from digital download platforms to subscription services.

Nielsen’s senior vice president for music industry research, David Bakula stated: “2016 showed us that the landscape is evolving even more quickly than we have seen with other format shifts.” The report also found that part of streaming’s increased success is due to hip-hop and R&B fans who account for 22 percent of all audio consumption and 28 percent of on-demand streams.
