Many people consider Rylo a protege of Lil Baby because he is signed to baby’s 4PF record label, but Rylo has emerged as his own man with a definite story to tell. Set Me Free, released on January 28, 2022, is formed by a soulful sample and carried by the pain in his voice.
“Set Me Free” seems to be a record that Rylo utilized as a form of therapy. His new single was released with a music video which finds the Alabama native in a meditative state harmonizing about his woes while sitting on a lakefront deck in all white, with a microphone in front of him spouting notable lyrics such as:
“He break bread with h*es he ain’t f*ck yet but won’t take care of his children / Most of my guys in chains, they asked the judge will you set me free? / Prosecutors hating on us, jack boys waiting on us / Got more rounds than Adrien Broner / Even though I’m lying, even though you lying / Tell me that you love me, I’ll tell you that I love you / We both know that ain’t true”
