While in Detroit last week Sway sat down with more Detroit rap legends as Royce Da 5’9 and Swifty McVay and Kuniva of D12 join the show. Comparing the energy of the hungry emcee’s about to take part in the cypher to that of the world famous Hip Hop Shop in Detroit Royce jokes about getting gonged (or boo’d) off the stage early on in his career.

Rolling into the history of the rap scene in Detroit all three guys share their thoughts on Eminem getting signed to open to doors for themselves along with Obie Trice and many more. Talking about the legacy of Shady Records Kuniva elaborates on the tight knit family that complimented their success. With each group or artist stepping into the spotlight for a few months they would make way for the next to take their turn.

Talking about new music Kuniva and Swifty say that there is more D12 music in the works but details at this time are sparse. As for Royce, the train of success will keep on rolling. Coming off of his most personal work to date, “Layers,” he says he’s now working on a deluxe version of the album. He is also planning a few mixtapes and getting back in the studio with DJ Premier to wrap up the recording of PRhyme which he says should be out be December.
