Ro James on His Unique Approach to R&B, Reaching Icon Status + Sings “Purple Rain” Live

With his new album “ELDORADO” out now, Ro James joins Sway in the Morning to speak on his come up and his unique approach to R&B.

Working with music exec Mark Pitts who used to bring Biggie to the West Coast to meet with Sway on the Wakeup Show, James is in incredibly good hands as he speaks on their relationship. Working also with Ghetto Gastro he speaks to Tracy G about saving money for years to be able to travel and record music before getting a record deal and being announced as the special guest on Maxwell’s new cover.

Diving into his project James breaks his sound down as a new soul fusion as Sway gets down to his song “Burn Slow.” Inspired by the likes of Prince, Michael Jackson, D’Angelo and Otis Redding among others he opens up about his unique style taking him to icon status in the future.

Before heading out Ro James steps to the mic to flex his vocal skills while singing over Prince’s “Purple Rain.” Check out the full interview above and grab your copy of “ELDORADO” on iTunes.
