Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, better known as DaBaby, has risen to mainstream levels of fame very recently and only appears to be on the upswing. Set to debut and dethrone Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding from the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, DaBaby’s newest project, KIRK, was released on Friday, September 27.
With heavy 808 production, abundant features, and large utilization of the triplet flow, DaBaby’s musical style is nothing too unusual from what you’d expect to see of a rapper nowadays.
Although the style and album as a whole are not particularly my cup of tea, it’s certainly something I can see people enjoying – especially at concerts. Notable tracks include “GOSPEL”, featuring Chance The Rapper, Gucci Mane, and YK Osiris, “iPHONE” with Nicki Minaj, and “RAW SHIT” featuring all three of the Migos.
Whether you’re a fan of DaBaby’s music or not, you’ve gotta respect his sudden rise to fame. The question that occurs now is: can he keep the hype train going? Are you feeling this album? What are your favorite tracks? Let us know!
