Red Light Special EP. 8: R. Kelly Says R&B is in "State Of Emergency" & Creates Perfect Playlist + Melanie Fiona Discusses New Album & Toronto Music Scene

Our good friends Rob Markman and Kristin Coral are back at it early this week for episode 8 of the Red Light Special Podcast.  Bringing forth real, thought provoking discussions about R&B it’s no surprise that RLS is receiving incredible feedback while bringing in outstanding guests week in and week out.

This week is definitely no different as one of R&B’s greatest, R. Kelly, joins the fun to speak on the current state of R&B.  Although he calls for a “state of emergency,” Kels give credit to Trey Songz and The Weeknd for keeping R&B music alive.  During the rest of his time on RLS, R. Kelly helps Rob build the ultimate playlist for time spent with his lady and also breaks down his 2007 track “Real Talk.”

The episode continues with RLS’ first female guest, Melanie Fiona, who discusses life as an independent artist, her new single “Bite The Bullet” as well as her upcoming album “Awake.”  Being from Canada, Fiona speaks on the Toronto music scene as she gives props to Drake for giving everyone in the city a platform to work from.

Check out the full episode below and if you live in New York make sure to stop by the Apple store in SoHo on Wednesday (July 22) at 7pm for a live broadcast of RLS hosted by our very own Sway Calloway.
