Rapsody is clearly one of the top emcees in the game, Laila’s Wisdom showed us that. The Jamla representer is now in prep mode from her forthcoming album EVE. And if the first single “IBTIHAJ” is any indicator of what is to come we are in for a treat. I mean how do you get Gza and D’Angelo on a track with Rapsody.

The song is in tribute to Ibtihaj Muhammad, the first American Muslim woman to wear a hijab while competing for the United States at the Olympics. There are cameos from some other legends as well, Roxanne Shanté and Mary J. Blige. Watch below.
EVE will be Rapsody’s third studio album, to which she plans to celebrate and honor women through rhyme. All song titles are named after iconic black women, including Nina Simone, Oprah Winfrey, Aaliyah, and Whoopi Goldberg.
“The stories behind the songs on EVE are inspiring, and I wanted to do my part in celebrating these women in the best way I know how…..I want to not only help tell these stories but help further each woman’s legacy and spark curiosity in people to learn more about them.”
