The Carter’s always know how to break grounds in the music world. From Jay-Z’s newest venture, to Beyoncé’s secret track releases. The latest news has been nothing less than perfect.
Mrs. Carter secretly released a love ballad dedicated to her husband, Jay Z, (which is now only available on his newest venture — streaming service Tidal).
Queen B posted the 15-second preview of the acoustic ballad “Die With You” on her Facebook page Saturday in celebration of the couple’s seven-year wedding anniversary. It goes a little something like this:
“I don’t have a reason to be if I can’t be with you“
Softly singing — she plays the piano, wearing a backwards cap, blond pigtails and aü natural. She continues:
“‘Cause Darling I wake up just to sleep with you / I open my eyes so I can see with you / and I live so I can die with you”
At the end, Jay-Z peeks his face in the corner of the camera, to show that he was the lucky guy to witness it and record the beautiful song, first hand. Great way to build up Tidal, right? The re-branded streaming service was launched in March by Jay Z, backed by other music moguls like Madonna, Kanye West and the masked electronic duo Daft Punk.
Beyonce posted the song unexpectedly on social media, a lot like the surprise release of her album last year. By Sunday afternoon, Beyonce’s “Die With You” Facebook post had been shared close to 10,000 times and “Liked” by 129,000 fans.
