In the early 1970s, an underground culture emerged from the inner city streets of New York City. It was a movement that combined music, dance, art and spoken word poetry to create a unique and authentic sound that resonated with young people from all walks of life. Today, 50 years later, Hip-Hop is a worldwide cultural phenomenon that has impacted and influenced millions around the world. To celebrate this milestone, AllHipHop.com and the Delaware Art Museum have joined forces to present the Inaugural Hip-Hop Cultural Summit on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 10 AM to 4 PM. Admission is free and open to the public, but registration is strongly encouraged!

The Hip-Hop Cultural Summit is a unique and distinguished community event that focuses on culture, music, tradition, understanding and celebration of Hip-Hop. At least 1,000 people are expected to attend this one-of-a-kind event. The purpose of this event is to connect the Museum with the larger community of Delaware and honor the numerous individuals who call our community home. Hip-Hop has been instrumental in providing a voice and spotlighting the struggles within inner-city environments. By celebrating the unique and authentic culture that Hip-Hop has brought to light, we can empower communities through music, dance, art and knowledge.

The Hip-Hop Cultural Summit includes a range of activities that celebrate and honor the influence and impact of Hip-Hop on society. Art exhibitions, panel discussions, a DJ Battle, and dance and poetry performances make up the majority of the activities available for guests. This event will offer guests an opportunity to learn more about the origins and foundations of Hip-Hop, exploring how Hip-Hop culture has brought to light the struggles within inner-city environments, and celebrating how the culture empowered these communities through music, dance, art, and knowledge.

The Hip-Hop Cultural Summit will include a range of guests, including the legendary Grandmaster Caz, MC Sha-Rock, Joseph Conzo, Jr., Young Guru, Grandwizzard Theodore, Richard Raw, Fred Ones, DJ Soulbuck, and Marcus “Marchitect” Watkins. As well as the AllHipHop.com founders “Grouchy” Greg Watkins and Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur among others.

One of the main highlights of this event will be the panel discussions that will be taking place throughout the day. The panel discussions will focus on various themes, such as the impact of Hip-Hop on the community, the origins, and history of the culture, and how Hip-Hop has influenced music and popular culture. Krayzie Bone Hospitalized In Very Serious Condition

AllHipHop reported Krayzie Bone from the music group Bone Thugs-n-Harmony is currently hospitalized, fighting for his life. According to reliable sources, Krayzie admitted himself to a hospital in Los Angeles on Friday (September 22) due to severe coughing up of blood. Krayzie has been diagnosed with sarcoidosis, an inflammatory disease characterized by an exaggerated immune response leading to the formation of inflamed tissue clusters called “granulomas” in one or more organs of the body.

Following a computed tomography (CT) scan, doctors identified an arterial leakage within one of Krayzie’s lungs. Immediate surgical intervention was performed; however, the bleeding has not yet ceased. As of Sunday (September 23), it has been reported that Krayzie is currently on mechanical ventilation and under sedation. Bizzy Bone recently took to his Instagram Stories with a concise message, urging everyone to pray for Krayzie. He added, “Having difficulty sleeping. Sometimes, all you can do is pray.”

Reports suggest that Krayzie quit smoking a few months ago, a decision that may have indicated an underlying health concern. Concerned fans and well-wishers have taken to Twitter to share their positive thoughts and energy with Krayzie during this challenging time.

The Legends of Cleveland Hip-Hop Chronicled in 216: Legends of The Land Documentary

Hip-Hop has become a cultural phenomenon since it originated in the Bronx in the early 1970s. However, its history has always been told from a New York-centric standpoint, leaving out other important regions that made their contributions to the genre. One such region is Cleveland, Ohio. 216: Legends of The Land, a four-part documentary, chronicles the Hip-Hop scene in Cleveland from the early 1980s to the superstardom of Cleveland’s own Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. The documentary screening was held at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of The Nerve DJs.

The documentary is divided into four 30-minute episodes, highlighting the influential legends of Cleveland Hip-Hop. The first episode focuses on DJ Cochise, a legendary Hip-Hop pioneer, who made a significant contribution to the Cleveland scene during the early 1980s. He was the first DJ to introduce Hip-Hop to the city’s radio station and helped create the first Cleveland Hip-Hop compilation. The second episode focuses on Nerve DJs, founded by Johnny-O, a record pool that supported Cleveland’s emerging Hip-Hop scene in the 1990s. The third episode highlights graffiti legends Sano and Mister Soul and their contribution to Cleveland’s Hip-Hop scene. Finally, the fourth episode focuses on B-Boys Dre Live Ski and Forrest Getum Gump and their role in the Cleveland Hip-Hop culture.

Jay Kool, writer, producer, narrator, and co-director, says that he started the project seven years ago when he saw a void in the narrative of Hip-Hop history. According to Kool, Cleveland Hip-Hop history had not been adequately chronicled, and he believed that the contribution of Cleveland’s Hip-Hop pioneers to the culture was worth knowing. The documentary provides an in-depth look at Cleveland’s Hip-Hop history and an understanding of the city’s influence on the genre.

The Nerve DJs celebrated their 20th anniversary in conjunction with the documentary screening. The Nerve DJs started as a record pool founded by DJ Johnny-O that helped elevate Cleveland’s rising Hip-Hop culture. The celebration was a three-day event that brought together Hip-Hop legends and fans. Radio Legend Kool DJ Red Alert and rapper Twista were among the legends present to mark the occasion.

216: Legends of The Land is set to air again on October 25 at Silver Spot, and tickets are available on their website. Jay Kool has shown his commitment to documenting the history of Cleveland Hip-Hop and sees it as the responsibility of every region to curate their own history. There is a brand new limited series in the works. Variety reports that it’s called “Behind The Crime” and it’s gonna take you deep into the inner workings of the justice system. The show’s gonna have some gripping cases and unfiltered access with real case footage. It’s premiering today, September 20, and the first episode is going to dig into Nipsey Hussle’s murder case, man. Can’t wait to see what they uncover, they gonna have stories from the people involved and real footage from that tragic event!

Now, speaking of Nipsey Hussle, his family is still waiting for justice, and at the same time, they’re fighting for custody of his daughter, Emani. It’s a tough situation. Nipsey’s ex, Tanisha Foster, says his family turned on her, while Nipsey’s fam thinks she is not fit to be the mother, claiming she has drug and alcohol problems. Whew, heavy drama, man. When Nipsey passed away in March 2019, his family got custody of Emani, but Tanisha demanded custody herself last year. Now they’re going to court, man. She’s askin’ for custody, sayin’ she only agreed to the guardianship back then ’cause she was financially limited. The judge has set a trial date for April 27.

And let’s not forget, Eric Holder, the dude who took Nipsey’s life, got indicted by a grand jury. He’s facing some serious charges – one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. But here’s the twist, man, he pleaded not guilty! If he gets convicted though, he’s lookin’ at life in prison.
