Officer Daniel Pantaleo Says He Feels "Very Bad" Regarding Death Of Eric Garner

After a grand jury decided not to pursue any charges in relation to the death of Eric Garner, Officer Daniel Pantaleo, who was caught on tape using a chokehold move which is banned by the NYPD, has released a statement regarding the case:

I became a police officer to help people and to protect those who can’t protect themselves,” Pantaleo said in the statement. “It is never my intention to harm anyone and I feel very bad about the death of Mr. Garner. My family and I include him and his family in our prayers and I hope that they will accept my personal condolences for their loss.”

When asked whether an apology would be accepted Garner’s wife Esaw Garner released her own statement yesterday after the verdict was announced:

Hell no. The time for remorse was when my husband was yelling to breathe. No, I don’t accept his apology. No, I could care less about his condolences. He’s still working. He’s still getting a paycheck. He’s still feeding his kids, when my husband is six feet under and I’m looking for a way to feed my kids now. I’m determined to get justice for my husband. My husband’s death will not be in vain. I will fight till the end.”
