President Barack Obama delivered his 8th and final speech at the 2016 White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington D.C.
Obama jokes about the media, the current election, Hilary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump, and even the beautiful Michelle Obama. Everyone was in attendance including Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Kerry Washington, Rachel McAdams, Aretha Franklin, and our very own Sway Calloway (looking very handsome I might add).
We already knew this speech was going to be a good one when “you’re going to miss me when I’m gone” plays in the background and Obama responds with “You can’t say it, but you know it’s true”. These are some of my favorite moments from last nights speech:
“I know I was a little late tonight, I was running on CPT, which stands for jokes that white people shouldn’t make”
“Next year at this time, someone else will be standing here in this very spot, and it’s anyone’s guess who she will be”
“…in my final year, my approval ratings keep going up. The last time I was this high, I was trying to decide on my major”
“As you know, “Spotlight” is a film, a movie about investigative journalists with the resources and the autonomy to chase down the truth and hold the powerful accountable. Best fantasy film since “Star Wars.”
On Kendall Jenner: “I’m not exactly sure what she does, but I’m told my Twitter mentions are about to go through the roof”
“Hillary trying appeal to young voters is a little bit like your relative who just signed up for Facebook. ‘Dear America, did you get my poke? Is it appearing on your wall? I’m not sure I’m using this right. Love, Aunt Hillary.”
and this gem about our gorgeous First Lady who never ages:
and of course, being the cool guy he is, President Obama ended his speech with an actual mic drop.
I’m not sure if we’ll be getting anyone this cool for a very long time but you will surely be missed Mr. President. Watch the full speech above.
