Nasty Nes, Kritta, & The High Children Discuss The History of the Bay Area and Seattle Music Scene, Importance of Local Radio + Spit a Groovy Freestyle

One of the most powerful figures in music stops by today at Sway In The Morning. Nasty Nes, joins the show this morning and discusses the digital age of music.

Nasty Nes swings by the studio today with his outgoing personality and discusses the history of the Bay and West Coast music scene. As he discusses the history of the west coast music scene, he goes into detail about how growing as an artist starts off at a local and community level. Nes tells many stories throughout the interview, even a hilarious story about how he applied to MTV, and then he found out Sway had got the job! Nes believes that college and local radio is important for an artist to grow a solid foundation under themselves.

Nes also brings a young talented man who’s family is deeply rooted in the California music scene, Kritta. Kritta’s father is one of the strongest names in the Bay area. However, Kritta has created a name for himself. “This Kid is a rising star,” said Sway. When asked about his fathers legacy, Kritta states, “It’s just surreal, because to me that’s ‘pops.’”

As the interview continues Nast Nes and Sway introduce The High Children. The High Children is a Hip-Hop group based out of Seattle. Mr. E or MC Jamal and Dj Third Degree stop by the studio to talk about the scene in Seattle. “Being a Hip-Hop artist in Seattle you have to be creative,” said Mr. E.  Being from Seattle and watching the music scene grow. Sway asked about the backlash Macklemore and Ryan Lewis receive. “Its just haters,” said Dj Third Degree. He believes people weren’t ready for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis to cross over to main stream.
