5 Time Grand Slam winner, Maria Sharapova has a new book called “Unstoppable”, and she stopped by Sway In The Morning to talk about it. Right off the bat, Sharapova talks about meldonium doping incident, which had her banned from tennis for two years. Which was later reduced to 15 months. She also speaks on racism in sports and advocates for equal rights in the game of tennis.
A major topic of conversation was the Williams sisters, Venus and Serena. She spoke on how the two helped to grow the sport, specifically for female tennis players. But she also talked about locker room stories, where she didn’t appreciate how Serena treated her. Sharapova eludes to one day sitting down with Serena, but what the two will have to say to each other will be between them. Williams and Sharapova have a lot of history and their stories will always be interwoven. It may make a great movie some day. But for now, it will be interesting to see how the storylines of two of the greatest athletes in tennis play out.
