Luis Fonsi’s Smash Single “Despacito” Breaks the Global Record for Most Streams Ever

If you have turned on the radio, been to the club, or any spot playing music out loud, you have heard Luis Fonsi’s Smash Single “Despacito.” The Daddy Yankee featured hit has been everywhere over the past few months, and today the word comes down that the track is now the proud owner of a new record. Today the word on the e-streets is that Luis Fonsi’s Smash Single “Despacito” Breaks the Global Record for Most Streams Ever.

The track has gained more than 4.6 billion streams since its January release and currently sits at No. 1 in the UK, USA, and Australia. The track has officially beat out the previous record holder, Justin Bieber’s single “Sorry.” “Despacito” also became the fastest video to reach 2 billion views in just 154 days. When asked about the record, Fonsi stated: “Streaming is a connector for audiences worldwide, and it has helped my music reach every corner of the planet.
