It has been a some time since we have heard from Left Lane Didon. He dropped a few dope Mixtapes in ‘Autumn Leaves‘ and ‘Late Arrival‘ that were slept on. He fell back for a minute but had started working on a concept project that was probably ahead of its time. Well it seems the patience for that really couldn’t have paid off more in the sense that there couldn’t be a more timely project than the release of ‘The Melting Pot’.
Given the current climate of our country, and some would say the world. We need something that speaks to who we are as a country and how we were built to embrace all cultures and backgrounds. This mixtape does that on so many levels. And what’s even more dope is the fact that it’s not done in a corny way, that is attacking everything politically wrong right now. It marries the sounds that we as hip hop fans love to hear with out compromising integrity. The best thing about this project is that it’s concept is built off the legendary MF Doom’s Hidden Herbs volumes 1 & 2. Didon taps in to some dope classic beats to round out this body of work.
