With a 26-0 record complete with 22 knockouts, Keith Thurman is holding on to his WBA Welterweight title with pride. Celebrating his 20 year anniversary as a boxer, (starting at the age of 7) Thurman joins Sway in the Morning to speak on his forthcoming fight with longtime friend Shawn Porter.
Coming up in the ranks as amateurs early in their careers, Thurman speaks on Porter’s experience fighting larger guys during his football days where he fought at 165. Watching Porter’s last two fights with Adrien Broner and Kell Brook, Thurman is confident that he has a strategy to take out his good friend.
While speaking about the politics in the sport of boxing Thurman brings up Floyd Mayweather and his tendency to ‘cherry pick’ his fights, weighing the risk reward before he stepped into the ring. This of course gets Sway excited as he asks about Mayweather’s fighting style and if Thurman could pick up a W. Thurman takes it in full stride and elaborates on how he could knock Mayweather out if he came back to boxing to pick up his 50th win.
Check out the full interview above and look out for Thurman vs. Porter on June 25th.
