India Arie Wants Us To Continue to “Breathe” Through These Hard Times

It’s been two weeks since the shootings of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, and the very soulful India Arie decided to release a video for “Breathe”, a song that tells us to keep going through these hard times.

Shot in black and white, India sings the verses while a group of people of all colors she’s surrounded by help her sing the chorus.  India captioned this song on her Facebook page saying: “I wrote this song a year ago but we need it right now so here is my gift to you. ‪#‎Breathe‬ ‪#‎NewMusic‬ ‪#‎SoulBIrdsUnite‬‪#‎BlackLivesMatter‬”.

She also spoke with ESSENCE about the song saying, “Just like the rest of the country, I am hurting and wondering how we can heal – and so I’m offering what I have. May this song “BREATHE” remind the black community that I love so dearly – that we are WORTHY, Our healing is in our hands, and never ever forget about your HEART. Love is the most powerful energy in the universe and all we have to do it use it. and In honor of our brothers, let’s continue to BREATHE.”

We need this, especially in times like this, we have to always remember to continue to breathe.  Watch below.
