Hip-hop pillars Greg Nice, from the 80’s hip-hop duo Nice and Smooth, and Positive K stopped by Sway in the Morning to talk about their collaborative effort titled, Gr8te Mindz. They break down the process of creating the project as well as their creative chemistry. The album, which was released in March, features big names such as DJ Premier, Easy Mo Bee, and more.
We asked the emcees to list some critical components involved in carrying a crowd when performing, what they’ve learned about the industry over the years, and who they would like to work with in the future.
Nice and K also took us back in time as they recalled what it was like hanging out with Pac and B.I.G. before the rappers’ reported beef. Nice explains in detail his experience recording with Pac, “He was like, do the beats, you know how you do the beats . . he’d pull out a yellow pad and start writing songs . . . we were doing like two or three records in one day.”
