CYPHERS

Friday Fire Cypher: Pt. 3 of Our Detroit Freestyles

Part 3 of our Detroit edition of the Friday Fire Cypher brought out some strong contenders so much so that Sway and Royce Da 5’9 didn’t have to give out any L’s this time around.  Chris Lanard had a pretty impressive flow and we saw another female MC, D Hall the Queen, who came confident and had the lyrics to back it up.

Joshua McKay, who looks up to Eminem, Royce, and all of D12, claimed he was nervous, but turned into a “fireball” when he started rapping.  Nothing stopped these MCs from missing a chance to rhyme in front of Sway…not even an ankle bracelet.  This concludes our Detroit freestyles, but check out the video above and make sure you hit this group of MCs on Twitter to let them know what you think.

Icon of hip-hop culture and a pivotal part of the MTV News team, Sway has been a staple of the music-news arena for more than a decade. From giving Eminem, Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac their very first radio airplay on his local show in the mid-’90s to providing television viewers with their first good look at some of today’s hottest celebrities in music, film, fashion and sports. Sway has been there for some of music and the world’s biggest moments.
