Former NFL Player Darren Sharper Convicted Of Rape

In a disturbingly tragic turn of events, former New Orleans Saints safety Darren Sharper has entered a guilty plea on charges of drugging and raping multiple women throughout California, Nevada, Louisiana and Arizona. Though he initially faced over 20 years for counts of sexual assault and attempted sexual assault, his lawyers have arranged a deal that will instead allow him to serve roughly 9 years.

All of the reported rapes occurred after the 39-year-old former Super Bowl champion retired from the league, though he will still be eligible for the NFL’s celebrated Hall of Fame as early as 2016.
