The choices we make in life, man. Once one of the best football players on the planet, Aaron Hernandez, will have to permanently trade in his New England Patriots uniform and childhood dreams of Super Bowl celebrations for an orange jumpsuit and completely different lifestyle. After months of speculation and 35 hours of intense deliberation the jury found Hernandez guilty of first degree murder.
Almost all football fans were hoping it was a “wrong place at the wrong time” situation and Hernandez would be able to get back on the field during Sunday afternoons but unfortunately this story turned out a little different for us all. The case goes back to 2013 where a young man named Odin Lloyd (also a football player, but for a successful semi pro team who won 4 championships) was gunned down.
Hernandez’s attorney, told jurors that Hernandez “witnessed” Lloyd‘s killing, “committed by somebody he knew,” and that the former NFL player “really didn’t know what to do, so he put one foot in front of another” and moved on with his life. – via CNN.
Unfortunately, that was too close for comfort as the verdict came through “Guilty” leaving the victim’s mother crying tears of joy and justice. But, on the flip side Hernandez‘s mother and fiance cried tears of a different meaning while the former Patriots player tried to keep them calm with a very simple sentence “It will be Ok.” Tragic.
