Donald Glover Opens Up About Childish Gambino Retirement

In case you did not know, over the past weekend Donald Glover made the announcement that he is making one “last Gambino album.” He made the announcement during his Governors Ball Set and Monday he doubled down on the statement in an interview with HuffPost. The wordsmith stated “There’s nothing worst than like a third sequel,” adding “Like a third movie and we are like, ‘Again?’ You know, I like it when something’s good and when it comes back, there’s a reason to come back, there’s a reason to do that.”

He also opened up about his reasoning, adding “I feel like there’s gotta be a reason to do things and I always had a reason to be punk. Being punk just always felt really good to me, and we always looked at ‘Atlanta’ as a punk show and I feel like the direction I would go with Childish Gambino wouldn’t be punk anymore. As much as ‘Redbone’ is a punk song because it’s a gospel song that’s on the radio, I’m like, ‘There’s only so far you can go before you just are the radio.” An interesting bit of news, and sad for fans of Mr. Gambino. However, his acting career in film and TV will certainly keep him busy. He is working on the second season of ‘Atlanta,’ while also developing an animated “Deadpool” series. Speak your thoughts on the news below and let us know your thoughts. Keep it locked for much more from Donald Glover coming soon!
