It’s that time again. College Gameday and Football filled Saturdays.
#3 Alabama and #20 Wisconsin faced off in the only Top 25 matchup we had for Week 1 of the 2015-6 season. As the Big 10 and SEC headed to Arlington, Texas to do battle – Lee Corso and the College Gameday crew accurately predicted the lopsided outcome. What we didn’t see coming was Heisman hopeful Derrick Henry rushing his way to career highs so early with 147 yards, 3 TDs. The Crimson Tide took over after halftime and didn’t look back cruising to a 35-17 win.
SU College Football Play of the Week: The greatest moments in college football occur as the clock hits zero but play continues, both teams fighting on the last possession to walk away with a win. Unfortunately for Nebraska on Saturday that decisive play went the other way as they fell short 33-28 against BYU at home, thanks to a last second 42 yard Hail Mary. I’d say we’re off to a great start this college season.
SU College Football Performance of the Week: It takes a complete team effort in order to reach the National Championship but along the way, it’s a must for Key Players to step up. We witnessed one of the most impressive one man outings Saturday night.
Notre Dame’s Malik Zaire accounted for more yards by himself than the ENTIRE University of Texas offense. “Huh? How is that even possible?” Can’t blame you for having those initial thoughts, we would too if we didn’t see it firsthand. He basically did what he wanted all night, completing 19 out of 22 passes for 329 yards with 3 touchdowns. The lackluster UT offense ended with 163 yards. Needless to say the #11 Fighting Irish dominated throughout, heading back to South Bend with a 38-3 win and making a strong statement heading into their Week 2 matchup vs. Virginia.
