Best of the Best: 2015 ESPY Awards

Best of the Best: 2015 ESPY Awards

Sweat. Tears. Hard Work. Accomplishments. #ESPYS

One of the biggest nights in sports for both fans and athletes is upon us once again. The 2015 ESPY Awards are set to kick off tonight at 8/7c hosted by Joel Mchale. We highly doubt any of the nominees started their athletic journey with aspirations of hoisting an ESPY. But that innate competitive spirit that afforded them the opportunity will still be on display quietly throughout the night. At the same time, it is one of those rare moments when players can take a step back and enjoy their peers accomplishments from a fans perspective. As for us fans, we get a chance to let our voices be heard as our favorite athletes, teams and moments are celebrated from the past year through the LIVE voting that will take place until showtime.

The Cincinnati Bengals Devon Still will be accepting the Jimmy V Perseverance Award on behalf of his daughter Leah, who doctors would not okay for travel due to her immune system being a little too weak at the moment. The story that captured our attention from day one continues to play out as we all remain #LeahStrong.

Another larger than life honoree is Lauren Hill, the amazing young lady that was able to achieve her dream of playing in a college basketball game despite an unfortunate irremovable brain tumor. Her mother will accept the award on her behalf and states her daughter and Devon Still grew to be close over time due to the similar circumstances.

We still remember last year’s touching Jimmy V presentation for the late great Stuart Scott that gave us both incredible hope and tears of compassion in the same moment. “Can I get a Booyah?”
