Benny The Butcher just dropped what could be considered the hardest album out this year. Produced by HitBoy, “Burden Of Proof,” consists of non stop bars, and heavy drums complimenting some dope samples. The Butcher has a star studded feature line up with artist like Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Freddie Gibbs and Big Sean. He also enlisted help from his Griselda family calling on Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine and Dom Kennedy. The long awaited album from Benny was well worth the wait.
Every rapper looking to be great strive to have a classic intro song, and Benny the Butcher just found his. “Burden of Proof” is a song about street politics, jealousy, haters, and some things he learned being locked up. Benny proves he deserves his spot by maintaining his own shine on tracks with his high profile features. Point proven on tracks like “Timeless where both Lil Wayne and Big Sean supplied some dope versus, The Butcher held his own. “Songs like “Legend” Benny takes his stand and declares himself a legend. The song “War Paint” was the perfect song for the Griselda team with Westside Gunn on the hook and Conway providing a fire verse. Benny even managed to bring the Madd Rapper back out on a Skit at the end of the song.
Overall the album is fire and trying find a low point is hard. People may say the Don Kennedy hook was a little weak, but Benny the Butcher’s versus on the song overrides the hook. An album I can listen to straight through is a hard thing to accomplish now a days. Benny the Butcher accomplished this with his album, “Burden Of Proof.” The production by HitBoy was on point and The Butcher handled his business. If you are a fan of the street hip hop style then this is an album worth listening to.
