“With the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders select Amari Cooper out of Alabama.”
Unless your favorite team plays in the same division as the black and silver, when you heard that selection immediately you thought “great pick” and 12 weeks into the season he is showing exactly why they took him. That confidence in Cooper made him just the 2nd Raider receiver selected in the first round since Tim Brown. The explosive wide out showed flashes of NFL greatness his entire time at Bama but how would it translate to the league?
How about breaking both franchise rookie records (yards in a season and most receptions) with 3 weeks left to go. The previous record for yards in a season was held by the speedy James Jett with 771. Nothing in us believes he is even close to his full potential yet which is a scary scenario for NFL defenders as he continues to grow and contribute to the great young core alongside QB Derek Carr and RB Latavius Murray.
Congrats to the potential Rookie of the Year Amari Cooper!
Amari Cooper has broken the franchise record for receiving yards as a rookie. James Jett had 771 in 1993. #Raiders
