At the end of 2020, we are going to be saying that Spoils of Babylon is one of the hardest albums of the year or the most slept on. I hope it is not the latter because the project that All Hail Y.T. and Tone Beatz have put together raises the consciousness of the culture and still has a crazy bop to it as well. We post projects from All Hail Y.T. quite often, but Spoils of Babylon feels like he is entering another level of emceeing and ultimate comfortability with his messaging. Tone Beatz sonically composed some uniquely menacing sounds, that take the listener on a journey that allow Y.T. to challenge several societal ills.
The album features Tha God Fahim, Chris Skillz, Left Lane Didon, and Jay Nice. It also features Rochester NY, native Eto in Royal Flush which gets the New Crack Era visual treatment below.
Spoils of Babylon ultimately is a story of a man finding balance in this world, dealing with incredible highs and deep lows. Y.T. finds himself questioning all of it. Listen below.
