A Look At Humorous Animal Sculptures By Michael Parekowhai

Contemporary art comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and Michael Parekowhai creates a broad range of work. Today Michael Parekowhai is back with some more outstanding displays of his style and talent providing some humorous animal sculptures for our viewing enjoyment. This new collection brings his passions of sculpture and photography together with a touch of high-art. Some of his interesting pieces include a seal who effortlessly balances a grand piano on its nose.

Upon closer inspection, the seal’s body is similar in shape to New Zealand. The piano acts as a representation of European “civilizing” forces. There is also an interesting piece in which a big bronze bull sits on top of a piano which shows off the artist’s use of scale in his work.
