She Real Set to Share the Stage With Hip-Hop Legend Big Daddy Kane at The Blue Note in Los Angeles

She Real

Harlem-bred lyricist She Real is bringing her unapologetic storytelling, commanding stage presence, and thought-provoking lyricism to The Blue Note as she prepares to open for Hip-Hop legend Big Daddy Kane. Rooted in authenticity and resilience She Real represents an artist who understands the power of using her voice to tell stories that matter. The upcoming performance brings together two generations of MCs, connecting Hip-Hop’s rich lyrical history with an artist determined to make her own mark on the culture.

She Real’s journey began in Harlem, New York, where she developed an early love for music by watching her father write and record songs in their living room. Inspired by those experiences, she wrote her first song at just nine years old, but spent the next decade pursuing her dream of becoming a professional basketball player. At 19, following a traumatic sexual assault by her then-boyfriend, music became a source of healing and a way to reclaim her voice. That turning point transformed her relationship with music, motivating her to pursue a career built on personal growth, self-expression, and inspiring others to turn their struggles into something meaningful. Since then, she has shared stages with respected Hip-Hop artists including GZA, Inspectah Deck, Joyner Lucas, Curren$y, Conway the Machine, Styles P, Stove God, Twista, dead prez, Talib Kweli, Ras Kass, Trae tha Truth, Grafh, and more.

Continuing to challenge expectations, She Real released her ninth independent project, I Don’t Rap About My Pu$$y, on September 3, 2024. The project pushes back against the stereotypes often placed on Black women in rap, using sharp lyricism and unfiltered social commentary to spotlight their depth, complexity, and power beyond sexuality. It was re-released through Even Biz on January 13, 2025, with exclusive unreleased content, further extending the project’s reach. Her message has also received social media recognition from notable industry figures, including super-producer Timbaland, legendary West Coast producer DJ Battlecat, music supervisor Derryck “Big Tank” Thornton, Justina Valentine, Orlando Jones, Symba, and Taj Austin of Coast Contra. Through her music, continues to make space for conversations about identity, representation, and the importance of allowing women in Hip-Hop to define themselves on their own terms.

With an opening set for Big Daddy Kane, one of Hip-Hop’s most influential lyricists and a defining figure of the genre’s golden era. Known for his intricate rhyme schemes, smooth delivery, commanding stage presence, and innovative approach to MCing, Kane helped shape the standard for lyrical excellence with influential projects like Long Live the Kane and It’s a Big Daddy Thing. His celebrated records, including “Ain’t No Half-Steppin’,” “Raw,” and “Smooth Operator,” helped cement his legacy as an artist whose influence continues to resonate across generations. His career represents an important chapter in Hip-Hop history, making this performance an opportunity to celebrate the craftsmanship and cultural impact that helped shape the art of MCing.

With The Blue Note providing the backdrop, the evening promises a celebration of Hip-Hop legacy, lyrical substance, and the voices continuing to push the culture forward. For She Real, opening for Big Daddy Kane is another opportunity to showcase her artistry alongside a respected icon while introducing more listeners to her story and perspective. For fans, it’s a chance to experience a legendary MC while discovering an artist who is building her own lane through authenticity, perseverance, and fearless expression. Don’t miss this performance at The Blue Note for a night that connects Hip-Hop’s celebrated past with the next chapter of its ongoing evolution.
