Young Guru posts on Instagram:

When you wake up and want to go to work everyday it’s not a Job. I’ve helped a lot of labels over the years. Now it’s my turn!!!!

He’s speaking of his newest venture. Everyone help us in welcoming Young Guru as the new Director of Operations to Jamla Records. The good vibe record label who holds some of the biggest pioneers in current Hip-Hop such as our friends 9th Wonder and Rapsody — has taken on the sought after beatsmith who is widely known and respected for his work with Jay-Z on The Blueprint album.

Needless to say, The Guru has actually been dabbling in many different aspects within and outside of the music industry. In fact, he has just moved his talents to Cambridge, Mass. to launch the first chapter of the establishment’s series, “Hip Hop Speaker” (at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT).

In a recent release, 9th Wonder spoke on the content of Guru’s character from the time they met stating,

“I’ve learned a lot about the game from Gu, and he has always been in my corner about my career, and most importantly, Jamla.  His genius in dealing with sound, music technology, music history and the creative process is unmatched.”

With that being said, we would like to extend our Congratulations to Young Guru, as well. Not only are you an incomparable sound engineer, DJ, Producer and Professor — you are living proof that there are infinite possibilities for all of us in this world.

Welcome to the Jamla Fam., Young Guru!
